Over the past few months I've become a master of the "Yes I'm good thanks" nod and smile. So often when we're moving through a tough time we can minimise it by saying "at least it isn't..." Or "you're lucky it's now..." , Always looking for a reason to brush over it, pin it down and keep moving on. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes it's easier than dealing with what's at hand. But at class we spoke about how important it is to feel your feelings... If it's tiredness, BE tired. If you're sad, have a cry. If you're angry, rant it out. If you're low, curl up on the sofa. Do what you need to move through your emotions. I'm not saying wallow in that place but instead let those emotions flow through you, find a release and then let it go. However, as a class we realised we don't live in a world that allows you to feel all your emotions. Especially the men in my class expressed that they felt they couldn't move through their emotions because of the pressure from society. This made my heart sink! I'm hoping the one thing I can pass onto everyone is that it's ok to feel ALL your feelings. Journal. Talk. Run. Cry. Paint. Dance. Feel it all.
#sustainableswapmondays . . Bathroom and Kitchen 2 for 1! . Ok kitchen roll... A kitchen essential! As much as I try to use my reusable kitchen cloth for work tops, spills and general kitchen needs, sometimes you need kitchen paper. . Sadly kitchen roll and toilet roll come wrapped in plastic which is sadly another way single use plastic sneaks into our life. So we've been using @whogivesacraptp . . Not only that but they use 50% of their profits to build toilets for those in need and I save the paper to use as wrapping paper... Winning all round! . Check out @the_lovely_catalyst for her amazing kitchen roll substitute!
#worldkindnessday Acts of kindness hit me right in the heart centre! Yesterday the lovely @keke_train_n_bake dropped off these amazing pancakes and of course doughnuts to help me feel better. Her act of kindness made a huge difference to my day and totally made me cry. My incredible husband shows me his kindness every second of every day too and for that I'm forever grateful. So today I encourage everyone to keep spreading that kindness everywhere, you never know who might need it ...
No classes this week! Might be back on Saturday for normal classes but until then I'll be practising what I preach.
#sustainableswapmondays (One day early!) . Ok this week we're coming in with an item that's not super easy to recognise but one the replaces the most used plastic in the kitchen... We're talking about ditching cling film! . I've never really got into cling film before as I usually put leftovers into containers! . But containers aren't always practical! When you're out and about you need something easy to wrap your snacks or sandwich in... Along comes food wraps! . There's a lot of these out there and usually made from beeswax, however more plant material ones now available for vegans! . I think they're great and super easy to use! . Check out @the_lovely_catalyst for her swap tomorrow!
Inspirational women Wednesday. Yes it's that time of the week when I scream and shout about how amazing women are! And share some stories of women who have inspired me. This week we look to Kunj's grandma. Hands down she's the most inspiring woman I know! Learning how to use an iPhone at 80, cooking, sewing and even making sure she gets her daily steps in. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for her to lose her partner of 60+ years earlier this year but her strength is amazing! She shares stories, laughs and smiles all the time. I genuinely love my Tuesdays with her and hope to be a fraction of what she is when I'm older. Please share some stories of your grandparents below... 🥰
